Contact your Congressman about Wind Power

Members of Congress listen to their constituents and care about constituent opinions. But to be effective, you must communicate properly with your legislators, representatives, and senators. Courteous written communications are more likely to be read and have more of a positive impact than a page of complaints. Remember, the best communication is a personal visit. But, since gas prices are outrageous email will have to do.
Write and send emails to your local, state, and federal leaders concerning wind power, renewable energy, and events that concern you. View sample letters that you can copy, paste, personalize, and then email to every legisltor and congressional decision maker in the country. We also have links to media outlets for newspaper editorial submissions. Find the sample letters below:
Small Wind Systems Tax Credit
Subject: RPS and Small Wind Tax Credits, Personalize with your state and custom text.
Dear [ Decision Maker]:
We have a terrific economic opportunity for [ Your State ]. It will provide a great economic benefit to our citizens and future generations. [ Your State ] is blessed with an abundance of wind with a huge economic benefit to be spread throughout the state. We can't miss our opportunity to take advantage of Wind Power. We need your support to establish a future of clean, renewable energy. Global warming is not a political issue - it's a moral and economic issue that deserves our attention. We must work together to ensure we leave [ Your State ] a healthy place to live for our children and grandchildren. We must work together to become a leader in Wind Power and renewable energy.
Many states have Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) requiring that regulated utilities generate clean power from renewable resources to offset pollution from fossil fuel based plants. It is essential to pass RPS legislation in our state. In addition, Small Wind Systems Tax Credits legislation should be passed to help individuals who want to install their own wind power systems.
Many states are attracting new manufacturing jobs and industry in the renewable energy to their state. We can't let [ Your State ] be trounced by our neighbors. Leadership on the clean, alternative sources of energy issue is desperately needed from your office and the rest of the legislature. There is no more important issues facing the citizens of [ Your State ] and our country.

Renewable Energy Sample Letter
Subject: The energy bill must include strong fuel economy and renewable electricity standards.
Dear [ Decision Maker] ,
I urge you to support an energy bill that develops new renewable energy and fuel economy. Our dependence on fossil fuels and foreign oil has crippled our economy and widened our carbon footprint.
With natural gas prices expected to rise again this winter, and the price of gasoline at record highs, we need an energy bill that includes the House-passed 15 percent by 2020 renewable energy standard and the Senate-passed 35 mile per gallon by 2020 fuel economy standard.
Increasing renewable energy and fuel economy standards would save consumers like me money on utility bills and at the pump. New analysis' indicates that the 15 percent renewable standard would save U.S. consumers between $13 billion and $18 billion in energy costs. Increasing fuel economy standards would also save consumers $24 billion annually.
Please support an energy bill that protects future generations and the planet.
